This seems to be a card of around the same age, but seems to be a bit better spec. As I'm not overly bothered about the gaming capabilities (as I say, as long as it'll match my current GTX 560, we're good!), is this something I can ignore and happily run 3440x1440 for productivity means?Īlternatively, I've also noticed my local store has an AMD Radeon RX 480 for only a tenner more. Most of these comments seem to be, however, based around someone asking about gaming at certain FPS. but if I search Google for opinions on running 3440x1440 on a 1050Ti, most comments seem to suggest "No! Don't do it! This is a 1080p card! Panic panic panic" The official specification seems to suggest this card can quite happily support 7680x4320 which seems a silly high resolution. but I've found at a reasonable price I can afford a GTX 1050 Ti. Mostly as it's unexpected, but I may live with it for a while if it's worth spending a bit more. If it's likely that whatever card I get is going to play games at a similar level or better to the GTX560, that's fine! I mostly just want something that can hande the 3440x1440 resolution as I tend to use this machine for more web browsing, coding, listening to music, etc. Admittedly, I don't play games on the PC anywhere near as much as I used to, so I'm honestly not looking for anything "better" than what I've already got in the GTX560 from that perspective. As a result, I have the feeling that switching between the two machines with different resolutions is going to screw my eyes up a little bit over time. but somehow my Lenovo X270 work laptop with standard Intel graphics seems to work at 3440x1440 with absolutely no complaints. It's running an NVidia GTX 560 of some description, Gigabyte branded I think? It seems the highest resolution I can support with this card is 2560x1080 over HDMI, which isn't terrible. The "gaming PC" was probably good for gaming about 8 years ago. but the stupid in me didn't even contemplate the fact that my graphics card may not be able to handle certain resolutions.Īdmittedly, and weird saying this having spent so much, I'm mostly planning on using this for work productivity when I'm working from home, but I also want to use this with my "gaming PC" (term used very loosely due to the age!) I have just purchased a Samsung C34J791 34" ultrawide monitor and already love it.
